Who is Satan?

I decided to use a metaphor for the picture to describe who Satan is to the sons and daughters of God.

All jokes aside, this blog will tell you a few names that describes Satan in the bible. I discovered that the enemy imitates the kingdom of God. Just as God has many names for specific reasons, Satan does as well.

I am creating a series of blogs that will inspire, uplift and encourage everyone who believes in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This series will assist you in knowing who you are in God, strengthen you in your faith, and of course, chase that age old serpent away! Now, let's get to it.

Satan: Luke 22:31

The devil: Ephesians 4:26-27

Beelzebub: Lord of the fly (2 Kings 1:2-3)

The tempter: 1 Thessalonians 3:5

Lucifer: (Ezekiel 28:11)

The serpent: Genesis 3:1-5

The great dragon: Revelations 12:9

Abaddon or Apollyon: Revelations 9:11

Morning star: Isaiah 14:12

Why did Satan fall from heaven? Satan fell because of pride. He desired to be God, not to be a servant of God. There were many "I will" refrences found in Isaiah 14:12-15

Ezekiel 28:12-15 describes Satan as an exceedingly beautiful angel. Satan was likely the highest of all angels, the anointed cherub, the most beautiful of all of God's creations, but he was not content in his position. Instead, Satan desired to be God, to kick God off His throne and take over.

Satan wanted to be God, and interestingly enough, that is essentially what Satan tempted Adam and Eve with in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-5). How did Satan fall from heaven? Actually, a fall is not an accurate description. It would be far more accurate to say God cast Satan out of heaven (Isaiah 14:15; Ezekiel 28:16-17). Satan did not fall from heaven, rather Satan was pushed!

The fight between Satan and God is over souls. Satan is mad because he is a defeated foe. His goal is to take as many souls to hell with him as possible, just to spite God. He knows that God sent his son Jesus into the world so that the world may be saved through him

Psalms 8:4-5 GW Version says "what is a mortal that you remember him or the Son of Man that you take care of him? You have madehim a little lower than yourself. You have crowned him with glory and honor."

So, what do christians do to defeat Satan? Well, you'll have to follow the series to see!
